Congratulations to our new Leadership Scholars!

TAEA is proud to announce the selection of eight new leadership scholars for our 2024-2025 Leadership Cohort.

The TAEA Leadership Scholar Cohort Program is designed to work in tandem with the TAEA Leadership Institute to provide the membership of the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) with innovative, relevant, structured and supported professional growth focused on leadership skill sets to advance art education. The Leadership Scholars were selected from a large pool of applicants and will learn in depth about leadership in art education, service and structure of the Association and how they can grow professionally. The TAEA Leadership Institute is part of the Association's Strategic Plan for its members and future growth and impact.

My immediate goals are improving visibility of the art program in my district, increasing supply budget, implementing an improved course catalog and being a more effective leader as the Secondary Art Teacher Lead. I am currently the Region 12 representative and I desire to be more effective in that position. Going into the future I would like to be more involved with TAEA, the people that I have met through conferences and retreats are inspiring and I would like to be more like them. I know I am not the only one who has these goals and if in the future I can help to inspire and facilitate others in their goals I would be grateful for the opportunity. I have built connections and community within my district and I would love to expand that community.

My goal is to learn as much as I can, from current TAEA leaders, while I'm on this journey. I'm also absorbing as much wisdom and direction from my fellow Leadership Scholars. My ultimate goal, is to pursue the Region 7 Representative position, once it's available; but also help smaller school districts in Region 7 attain DOD.

My goal as a TAEA Leader is to continue to advocate and raise awareness of the importance of a fine arts in public education. I want to be involved in every way I possibly can to make sure that every student in Texas and the US has equal access to a high quality fine arts education from early childhood all the way through secondary school.

As a TAEA leader, my goal is to advocate for and advance equity, diversity, and inclusion within art education. I am committed to ensuring that all students, regardless of background, circumstance, or ability, have access to the transformative power of art. I believe art education plays a crucial role in supporting students' mental health, fostering creativity, and building self-expression. I aim to help create inclusive spaces where every student's voice is heard, valued, and celebrated through artistic experiences that nurture their well-being and personal growth.
