What is Youth Art Month?

March is National Youth Art Month and the State of Texas has been a leader in Youth Art Month celebrations since it began. TAEA sponsors a flag design contest, an exhibit of 100 pieces of student art work, and a student award celebration and reception at the state Capitol in Austin, as well as its participation with TASB/TASA each fall.

TAEA advocates for visual art education all year--You Can Too!

  • TASB/TASA student art exhibit, booth and Student Art Central
  • YAM Flag Design Contest to represent Texas nationally
  • YAM Capitol Exhibit for 100 student artist, award celebration and reception
  • District and Area associations YAM scrapbooks celebrating year-round advocacy and YAM events
  • Connecting art educators with tools for advocacy and communicating the importance of quality visual
arts programs at the local, regional and state level

Participate in TASB/TASA:

The Texas Art Education Association showcases K-12th grade student work annually at the TASB/TASA convention. This convention is for the Texas Association of School Boards and the Texas Area Supervisors Association, and this year it was held in Austin, TX, September 28th-30th. We exhibited 160 works of student art, hosted a booth in the exhibitors hall for the first time, and showcased young artist at work. Next year, the convention will take place in Dallas, TX. We look forward to more districts being a part of the convention, with student art work on display, and with art teachers and their students demonstrating the learning that takes place in an art classroom in the Student Art Central.
